Rond om Tegersche – #Hiking in #Switzerland under the Säntis #Mountain

We got finally a little bit of summer here in West-Switzerland (Ostschweiz). Perfect weather to go back hiking around the house. We took the car and drive nearby to Degersheim… and we got lost. Then we decided to park and take the first hiking route.. and we end up in a light but interesting walk around the hills: Rond om Tegersche.

  • Distance 9.6 km
  • Altitude gap: 390m
  • Time: 3 Hours (we completed in 2.5 with launch pause)

And then we finished our hike with some sweets… in Wolfensberg Restaurant

… why not?:)

Sunday at #Chur (#Coira) – The oldest town in #Switzerland

Due to a unnatural nice whether, we decided to take a drive nearby to the Swiss Alps, in Chur.

From Wikipedia

Chur or Coire (pronounced [ˈkuːr] in Graubünden and outside of Switzerland but [ˈxuːr] in other cantons of Switzerland; Alemannic German: Khûr; Romansh: Cuira [ˈkwerɐ] or [ˈkwoi̯rɐ]; Italian: Coira [ˈkɔi̯ɾa]; French: Coire [ˈkwaʁ]; Latin: CVRIA, CVRIA RHAETORVM and CVRIA RAETORVM) is the capital of the Swiss canton of Graubünden and lies in the northern part of the canton. Chur is situated at the right shore of the Rhine-River and is known as the oldest town of Switzerland.
Archaeological evidence of settlement at the site, in the Eastern Alps, goes back as far as the Pfyn culture[3] (3900-3500 BC),[4] making Chur one of the oldest settlements in Switzerland. Remains and objects from the Bronze and Iron Ages have been found also in the eastern sector of the current city’s centre.

We find also a very interesting restaurant where to taste the regional specialities like The Capuns (sausages wrapped in beet leafs) and the Bizochels (noodles with herbs and cheese).

#Hiking in den Bergen von #Appenzell

Less than one Hour drive from our home, there is a little paradise to hike (and also for paragliders). For a second consecutive Sunday we decided to recharge having a walk in Appenzell mountains. From Wasserauen to SeeAlpsee. We ended up even taking a swim into the iced waters of the AlpSee lake.

Hello World!

Hallo everyone.

Why am I doing this? Why start a blog? Well, writer Primo Levi once said “There are two kind of men: those who makes things just for their own sake and those who make things just to tell to the others. I belong to the second kind.”. So do I.

Who am I? Just some Italian guy now living and working in Switzerland. I travel a lot, thanks to my job as Feed, Food&Beverage Segment Manager for my Company. And I cook, as a hobby… I kind like also eating. Of course I also like to taste wine. So I am lucky: my job, my hobbies, everything match…

Then, I like to tell the others what I am doing, especially about food: that’s the reason for the blog.

I am going to publish comments, thoughts, quotes, anything… and of course I appreciate any kind of comment (more or less;)).
